Who we are

We are the people of the Moose Cree Homeland, living here since time immemorial or welcomed here in a spirit of Šawelihcikewin.

As far back as the 1670s we welcomed European trading partners and gradually built a shared community and formed families through intermarriage. However, like other Indigenous communities in Canada, we have experienced times of darkness.

Now, an exciting time of hope is emerging. Many of us are reconnecting with the land, our heritage, our language, and the richness of our culture. We are sharing these precious gifts with each other, and we want to share them with everyone!

Your support of Old St. Thomas will restore to us a gathering place where elders, families and youth can reconnect with our land, traditions, language and ceremonies.  Give Now!

This phase of the Šawelihcikewin Campaign is focused on the restoration and renewal of Old St. Thomas, but you can also donate to the MRHHA's larger More than 350 Initiative, of which this is a part.
